About the store
I have taught for the past 20 years, mostly in the k- 2 grades. Although the children keep me very busy, they are also so curious and excited about learning, that they keep me inspired to try new ideas in my classroom. I have also taught in both Canada and the Uk, which has provided me with a very broad perspective on education and education practices. It seems that children are similar all around the world, they all need nurturing and care to grow!

100s charts are always useful math activities. But in the composite or older grades children have to be able to recognise and work with numbers to 1000.

Numbers Lineup
A fun math game to teach place Value. The children form teams and challenge others as they race to the line to show their one, two or three digit numbers. Can be played to consolidate learning, or as a fun way to introduce the class to two and three digit place value. By physically holding and sorting the numbers into their correct place, the children gain a deeper understanding of the importance of where the numbers belong and have fun while doing it! Teaching style
I like working in ability and mixed abililty groups for many of the subject areas. The children are encouraged to try their best andI encourage a positive, happy environment using the "FishPhilosophy" as my main behaviour management tool. As a user of all things technology, I love using the Iwb and I am now working oincorporating the mobile technologies such as Ipad within the classroom.

Additional biographical information
In any spare time I have, I enjoy working with fabrics and fibres, and I try to incorporate these skills in the classroom where possible. Some of the activities that I have adapted for class include working with quilting, knitting, paper mache, woodwork, puppetry and bead work. These enrichment activities are always popular with the children and often flow over into a skill they then practise at home.
