Article Summary and Critique

It's the end of the grading period and students are asking for extra credit! Yikes. If you're willing, offer students the opportunity to read, summarize, and critique timely articles. Use this to help guide their reflection. (I personally limit 3 per person for extra credit.)

While You Were Out

Distributing missing work to students that have been absent can be challenging. Use this document to create a system in your class that helps you and the chronically absent students. Print off several of these papers, cut, and have them ready. When you pass out work set the absent students' work aside. You or a class helper will write the student's name and date on the paper. Next, place their work in "While You Were Out" crate, organized by class period.

My own education history

My educational experience started in a one high school district from elementary to high school in Kansas City, Kansas. I attended Kansas State University and attained a bachelor's degree in Human Ecology with a certification in Family Consumer Sciences. I returned to K-State for a master's degree in Family Studies and Human Services with a concentration in Positive Youth Development. Finally, I just completed a principal's preparation program at Texas State University. Throughout this time, I have worked at three different schools in two different districts.
