Falling for Fifth Grade

This packet is what I give to my students at the beginning of our informational writing unit! It includes the writing process for them to reference and within each step a detailed explanation. There are also examples throughout each step. I also have included in my packet the topics for them to choose. This rubric is based on the Virginia SOL's writing rubric that every child will be graded on in 8th grade! I wanted to incorporate a rubric that would be of use to the students future so they wouldn't be surprised and would know what is expected of them. This informational writing rubric is usually attached to my writing process packet that they use to help them write their essays. All the expectations are right in one spot!

I use this print out as a letter to parents when I send things home with my lower students. I usually will send science flashcards or a science study card or anything that provides extra support for the kiddo. I have heard great things from parents!

This is what I use to send home to my parents to let them know about our Valentines Day Celebration. I remind them that they don't have to bring in a treat but if they do they need to bring one to everyone!
