All students love a field trip even if it is only to McDonald’s to measure the temperature of the coffee. We meet at 7:30 in the morning at McDonald’s, set up in the playroom (no children are playing that early), eat breakfast and use temperature probes to collect data on the cooling coffee. The students have already researched the McDonald’s 1992 hot coffee lawsuit so we are there to find out if anything has changed since that time. We return to school and finish the “field trip” in the comput

These are the assignments I give my students for the first chapter in Larson Calculus 10 ed. The Lesson Plans list the dates of assignments, abbreviated objectives, and the assignment. In the assignments you will find problems from the textbook and additional problems the students need for the AP test. You will also find Critical Thinking Journals, dates of quizzes and tests and a list of topics for their Interactive Notebooks (Little Black Books). I created the product in WORD so you can modify

These are the assignments I give my students for the second half of Ch. 2 in Larson Calculus 10 ed. I divide Ch. 2 on derivatives into three units. Ch. 2A introduced derivatives focusing on the definitions of derivatives and some simple derivative rules. The students also solved some application problems such as velocity, acceleration and rate of change using simple derivatives. In Ch. 2B, the students apply the product and quotient rules, derive the trig rules and chain rule, and use the cha

This table of contents covers the properties in my 3rd Calculus chapter on Curve Sketching which I give the students on the first day of the unit. There are actually two lists, a Table of Contents with my foldables and a Table of Contents with all the properties I cover in this chapter. I uploaded the table of contents in WORD so you can edit it to fit your needs. My "Interactive Notebook" which I call a Little Black Book (because it is a black marbled composition book) is predominantly a conc

I uploaded the table of contents in WORD so you can edit it to fit your needs or simply let the students create their own Table of Contents as you go. This table of contents covers the properties in my 5th chapter in Larsen Calculus on Logarithmic, Exponential, and Other Transcendental Functions which I give the students on the first day of the unit. There are actually two lists because I divide the chapter into two major tests so you will see a list for Ch. 5A and for Ch. 5B. Because I teach from Larsen's Calculus textbook, transcendentals are taught in a later chapter so you may need some of these properties earlier in the year. However,

My "Interactive Notebook" which I call a Little Black Book (because it is a black marbled composition book) is predominantly a concise discussion of properties with examples to review for the chapter test. Sometimes there are even fun things such as my foldables or graph paper post-it note explorations. This is a Table of Contents for my Calculus chapter on Limits. My students have been creating an "Interactive Notebook" for 30 years, I just call it their Little Black Book (because it is a black marbled composition book). It is predominantly a concise discussion of properties with examples to review for the chapter test. Sometimes there are even fun things such as my foldables or graph paper post-it note explorations.
