Here is a 5-10-minute daily warm-up activity that gives students extra practice with parts 1 & 4 of the Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE) Speaking Paper as well as parts 2, 3 & 4 of the Reading and Use of English Paper (for the 2016 updated version of the exam). Here is a collection of my favorite jokes/riddles that I have used in my Adult ESL classroom over the years. I always write a riddle on the board at the beginning of class and— regardless of whether the students end up laughing or rolling their eyes—it always helps to get the morning started on a light note.
