I have had the privilege of educating young learners for 37 years. I have taught most grade levels up to 5th grade, but most of my experience has been in first grade. They are my passion. I earned my undergraduate degree from Calvin College in Michigan and my Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Reading from Concordia University.

Experience

I have had the privilege of educating young learners for 37 years. I have taught most grade levels up to 5th grade, but most of my experience has been in first grade. They are my passion. I earned my undergraduate degree from Calvin College in Michigan and my Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Reading from Concordia University.

Teaching style

Believing that children are creative, active learners, eager to be engaged in challenging experiences, I am dedicated to providing an exceptional education for my students through hands-on, active, interactive, self-initiating, manipulative, and sensory rich experiences that honor the multiple intelligences and unique combinations of interests, skills, and gifts of every learner. I believe in helping kids make connections throughout the day, and therefore implement a thematic approach to every day.

I am married to my college sweetheart and have lived in the great state of Texas for 37 years! We have two amazing boys who have my heart. I love my church, the Texas Rangers, the Dallas Cowboys, antiquing, and the beach! When I am not teaching, or traveling, I am planning events, and parties!! I try to find JOY in every part of this journey!!
