These cards were created as a review of VA state symbols for my first grade class. It covers the symbols outlined in the SOL's as well as a few additional cards. You can print the cards, laminate them, and cut them out. Then students place them face down to play memory with a partner and match up the symbols.
This sort was created to help students learn about classifying plants based on the following characteristics: flowering/non flowering, edible/non edible, and deciduous/evergreen (VA SOL 1.4c).
Since many of these categories overlap (such as edible and flowering), some children may put pictures in different categories. I allowed this with my students as long as they could provide their reasoning.
This is a fortune teller/cootie catcher that was designed to review Virginia Standard SOL 1.6 for first grade science but might work for K or 2. It covers basic concepts related to the sun, Earth, and night and day and was meant as a fun way to review the material (my class loves making these and quizzing their family and friends!).
These vocabulary cards can be used to teach relevant vocab during an election or related Social Studies unit.
Words included: ballot, candidate, citizen, elect, Election Day, issue, polling location, register, vote, voter
This Jeopardy style game was created to review what students learned after a unit on plants. It is geared towards VA standard 1.4 but would work well with most units on plants.

This was created to review first grade Social Studies SOLs 1.11 and 1.12 (VA and US symbols). Students can cut out the square, fold the paper according to the directions, and quiz themselves or friends to review the concepts taught.
This is a fortune teller/cootie catcher that was designed to review Virginia Standard SOL 1.5 for first grade science but might work for K or 2. It covers basic concepts related to animal needs and characteristics and was meant as a fun way to review the material (my class loves making these and quizzing their family and friends!).
This Walk Around activity was created as a review of the following concepts: time, money, growing patterns, fractions, and basic operations. It is a great review for the second half of the school year.
I make a copy of the first page for all students. Then I print the question cards on cardstock and cut them apart. I hang each card all around the room (on walls, tables, etc). The students walk around the room with the recording sheet and answer each question on their page. They can work alone o
Fun way to practice spelling and math skills at the same time. Students write their spelling or word study words on the lines and then use the Scrabble tiles to find the "score" of each word.
This document can be used to record scientific observations and conclusions for the mystery sphere experiment. The mystery sphere is the Gobstopper candy. Students drop it in water and observe as the colors come off the candy.
This activity fits nicely into a unit on interactions with water (VA SOL 1.3)
This is a sort to practice fact families. It was made as a challenge for the higher first grade students in my class as it has some equations with missing numbers.
