I'm currently in my 5th year of teaching, and all of those years have been in first grade - my happy place! Before entering the classroom, I worked with kids of all ages in a variety of settings, from camps to after-school programs, so I've pretty much seen it all (and loved it all!)

Teaching style
My classroom is built on love, laughter, and lots of learning! I believe in making things fun, functional, and flexible. Whether it's incorporating movement, using hands-on centers, or finding creative ways to differentiate, I'm always thinking about what will click with my kids. Themed activities that get kids motivated to learn have my heart!
Awards & shining teacher moments
Some of my brightest moments have come from the little things - like watching a struggling reader have their "lightbulb moment" or seeing my students cheer each other on. I've also had the honor of sitting on several curriculum planning teams and serving as a mentor for newer teachers, which has been such a full-circle moment!
My own education history
I have my Bachelors Degree and 2 Masters Degrees (including an MBA) but none of those are actually in education! I was in an administrative position with higher education for a few years before I realized how much I missed working with kids. I decided to get my alternative certification, and I never looked back!
Since then I have continued growing through professional development focused on early literacy, phonics instruction, and social-emotional learning. I'm a big believer that teachers are lifelong learners too!
Additional biographical information
When I'm not in the classroom, I'm probably sipping on iced coffee, scrolling Pinterest for my next classroom bulletin board idea, or curled up with a good book. I love connecting with other educators, and I am so excited to share what's worked in my classroom with you! Let's make teaching just a little bit easier - and a whole lot more fun - together!
