About the store
My education career started in the Dearborn neighborhood of inner-city Chicago, tutoring kids after school at those long cafeteria tables. The first week, they cussed me out using words I'd never heard and wouldn't come out from under the table. Since then, I've taught first grade, adult ELL, SAT prep, struggling readers, social studies 1-6, you name it! But my heart is still for those "side by side" moments when learners gain a greater sense of what's possible for them. Spelling Words Progression: Fry
Get a year's worth of spelling words all sorted out! Hit the first five hundred words of Fry's high-frequency words. I've mixed them up so each week should present a challenge for good spellers while not discouraging struggling spellers. Space is left for informal assessment on student progress or struggles. This list pairs well with my spelling journal, but can be used on its own. I also have a Dolch list available in the same format.

Flexible, student-centered spelling journal
This journal was created with a whole-language classroom in mind, but also works well as a literacy station activity. Given fifteen words, students choose five missed or challenging words to focus on for the week, while still gaining exposure to all fifteen through interactions with their peers (who have different words). If you work with Haitian students, you need this language crash course! This cheat sheet will help you quickly learn the basics of communicating in Haitian Kreyol.
You'll learn basic greetings (good morning, how are you, goodbye), commands (sit down, come with me), and even compliments (great job!). Teaching style
My teaching styles uses a lot of humor, because most of my students think of school as dull and boring. It's interactive and very flexible, based on what opportunities present themselves. I take what I learn from them and run with it.
My own education history
I earned my Bachelors of Arts in Education from Eastern Washington University in 2007, along with my Reading Endorsement. I was certified to teach all subjects K-5 and reading specifically K-12.
