About the store
In the past 10 years, I have worked with elementary Math Specials classes, all the way up to Precalculus. I was in the public school for 8 years, working the last 3 at a STEM High School. I now work for an online international private school, and have taught nearly every widely-used high school math course. My goal is to create resources to simplify the many tasks that make teachers' lives so needlessly busy and that will help parents and students as well. Currently developing resources of all sorts, also housed at flippinmath.com. From instructional manipulatives to projects, from review 'booklets' to lesson-planning software, I aim to give you back some of your most valuable commodity: your time!

Dividing in Chunks (M4P.E29)

When the 'old-timers' divided things, we typically used the long division algorithm. This one-page notes worksheet looks at a "new math" strategy that asks students to see the problem flexibly by 'taking out multiples' as is convenient. It is a part of a series of resources created to accompany the book, Math for Parents: Elementary Edition. Find more resources here on TPT, or on my website @ flippinmath.com.

Representing Division on the Number Line (M4P.E28)

Some students just really need to visualize what's happening. This one-page notes worksheet explains how a number line can be used to graphically represent and help solve a division problem. It is a part of a series of resources created to accompany the book, Math for Parents: Elementary Edition. Find more resources here on TPT, or on my website @ flippinmath.com.

Divisibility Rules (M4P.E27)

This one-page notes worksheet is to help students determine how a number may be broken down into its prime factors. Can a number be divided by 3? Use these rules to double check! It is a part of a series of resources created to accompany the book, Math for Parents: Elementary Edition. Find more resources here on TPT, or on my website @ flippinmath.com.

Factors & Multiples (& How They're Useful) (M4P.E24)

Multiplying and dividing tend to get mixed up in some students' minds. How do factors relate to the product? How about the quotient? This one-page notes worksheet helps iron out the differences and applications of multiples and factors. It is a part of a series of resources created to accompany the book, Math for Parents: Elementary Edition. Find more resources here on TPT, or on my website @ flippinmath.com.

The Power of the Distributive Property (M4P.E23)

Like the other algebraic properties, students memorize the Distributive Property as a vocabulary term. The distributive property is crucially important -- from simplifying expressions, all the way to multiplying polynomials later in math classes. This one-page notes worksheet attempts to give some context and relevance to the Distributive Property. It is a part of a series of resources created to accompany the book, Math for Parents: Elementary Edition. Find more resources here on TPT, or on my

A Preview of Negative Numbers (M4P.E21)

While most of the elementary curricula avoid negative numbers, sometimes it's necessary to give the preview of negative integers in order to clarify the concept of subtraction. This one-page notes worksheet focuses on what happens when subtraction takes us 'lower than zero'. It is a part of a series of resources created to accompany the book, Math for Parents: Elementary Edition. Find more resources here on TPT, or on my website @ flippinmath.com.

Adding & Subtracting in Chunks (M4P.E20)

This 'new strategy' for subtraction may look different than the standard algorithm, but this one-page notes worksheet attempts to make this concept understandable by understanding how to flexibly work to divide a number by determining how many groups there are of the divisor. It is a part of a series of resources created to accompany the book, Math for Parents: Elementary Edition. Find more resources here on TPT, or on my website @ flippinmath.com.

Teaching style

I like to make my math students think for themselves. I give a lot of application problems, exploration tasks using Desmos or Geogebra, and have the students engage in projects as often as possible. I believe students perform best when they are engaged in authentic math. That being said, sometimes kids just need easy-to-understand notes!

EPIC Math Teacher of the Year (2021), Fusion Global Academy

My own education history

I got my Bachelors in Music Education from UGA (and have plans to complete a curriculum to develop sight reading skills in young learners). After teaching in a small private school for several years, I needed a more lucrative position. This led me to become a math teacher, studying online through Western Governor's University to receive my Masters of Arts in Teaching (Mathematics).

Additional biographical information

As an educator in today's society, I feel an enormous sense of duty. Technology has evolved exponentially over the past 20 years, leaving behind the 'old-school' traditions of education. I am interested in putting technology to good use and developing resources that help teachers to the same. Check back often for new solutions -- and if you have ideas for what would be useful to you, please reach out and let me know! tmr@flippinmath.com
