Hi all! I have worked in middle school for over 12 years and focused notes are my jam. In my time working with educators I found that it wasn't the actual note taking part that was difficult, it was the utilization of the notes after they were take, where many educators felt stuck. I started looking at my own practices and refining ways for my students to utilize their notes on a daily basis, to overcome the curve of forgetting, and prepare them to demonstrate mastery of the standard on their assessments.

Hi all! I have worked in middle school for over 12 years and focused notes are my jam. In my time working with educators I found that it wasn't the actual note taking part that was difficult, it was the utilization of the notes after they were take, where many educators felt stuck. I started looking at my own practices and refining ways for my students to utilize their notes on a daily basis, to overcome the curve of forgetting, and prepare them to demonstrate mastery of the standard on their assessments.

Teaching style

My teaching style is that you have to balance the science of teaching with the art of teaching. I ground what I do in research based practices but recognize that learning has to be active and fun (although let's be honest some topics are not that fun.) I belive that my students are the drivers of their learning and it just takes connecting them with the right tools to help them succeed. I provide a healthy dash of humor with a nurturingly firm attitude that let's my students know I'm here for them every step of the way, but I will also hold them accountable because I genuinely care about them.

My own education history

I have my bachelors in education, masters in educational administration, and my national boards in middle level science.
