Common Core: Nouns Practice...(Using Social Studies Content)

I wanted to tie some of the 4th grade Social Studies content in with nouns practice. I needed my students to have a spiral review of noun identification, common and proper nouns, singular and plural nouns, as well as singular possessive and plural possessive nouns. As I am reviewing and allowing them to have individual practice, I am pleased to know that they are reading/reviewing SS content at the same time. (colonial America, Benjamin Franklin, etc.)

This is a book report that should interest our students. Our children love social media. They are experts with technology. I wanted to integrate their love for technology and still get a good old-fashioned book report out of them. I believe upper elementary and middle-school aged children will enjoy this book report. I am using this with my Gifted and Talented students.

About the store

Experience

I started teaching fourth grade in December of 2007. My family was blessed with our third child the next year. I took an extended maternity leave in 2008 and returned to teach fourth grade in 2010. I have remained in fourth grade and love it! This is the age group that I feel a connection with and want to teach.

Teaching style

I love to add laughter into my classroom. Every now and again, a child will mistakenly call me "Momma". That's one of the highest privileges that I can think of. I truly desire to promote a family atmosphere in my 4th grade classroom. When the security is there...I believe the learning will follow!

My own education history

I received a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in December 2007.
