Experience

After completing my undergraduate degree at Purdue and earning a Purdue ESOL Certificate, I got married and moved to Virginia. I began my teaching career in 5th grade and am now on a 4th grade adventure—so I guess you could say I’m not smarter than a 5th grader! Teaching style

My teaching style emphasizes movement, collaboration, and engagement. I regularly use task cards and station-based learning to keep students actively involved and learning at their own pace. Peer collaboration is a key part of my classroom, as working together helps students build confidence, strengthen understanding, and develop a sense of community.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Throughout my student teaching semester in the spring of 2023, I received recognition in the form of the Outstanding Future Educator Award awarded to me by the Indiana Association of Colleges for Teacher Education. Purdue University designates a single recipient to represent each specialized field of study within the realm of education. I am honored to have been chosen as the representative for the Elementary Education class.

Additional biographical information

Hi! I’m Cassie—an elementary teacher originally from Indiana who creates classroom resources that are practical, engaging, and truly standards-aligned. I began designing my own materials while navigating new state standards and quickly realized I needed resources that worked for all of my students. With ESOL learners in my classroom, I regularly modify and adapt materials to support language development while maintaining high expectations. Every resource in my store has been created, tested, and refined in my own classroom to help all learners—including my ESOL friends—feel confident and successful.
