I used “I can…” statements for each ELA CCSS found at http://www.corestandards.org/. These are to be used for display in poster form in my class as we are using them. I also included for each ELA area, a progress check sheet of matching standards that can be used to track each student. If you find this helpful, please let me know. I created student progress check sheets for use in my classroom using the CCSS phrased as "I can" statements. Each ELA area has a different theme for ease of student use. They also coincide with my more complete listing of all common core ELA standard posters in another file. This presentation is for staff to learn what learning targets are and how they can help students understand the process of their own learning better. It covers what they are, why I use them, and how they help students. It also includes how exit passes might be useful.

This is a free preview of the posters I created for use in my classroom. They are the basic CCSS for reading in literature put into "I can" statements. In my classroom, I three-hole punch them and put binder clips in the top. Then, I hang the binder clips up on the whiteboard so that my students know which standard we are going to mostly focus on during a given lesson. It includes a student progress sheet that also has each CCSS listed for each ELA area. If you are interested in the comple
