Begin by completing an addition story together, illustrating and solving. Then let your students create on on their own. Finally, let them practice with a partner. Do you want to make addition fun? Here is a hands-on activity using candy corn and it can be done in a group, with a partner or as a center activity. Just give each student some candy corn and two small cups. The student then puts a few pieces of candy corn into each cup, counts the pieces, writes the number on the line and adds.
