Experience

I have substituted and tutored for all grade-school levels and taught at the university level, and I have unschooled my children since 2006. I have also conducted professional development and continuing education for a public library, and I have written and performed podcast, video, and website content as part of a digital media team.

Teaching style

I believe self-directed education is the most efficient and the most effective form of education. I design my products with self-motivated learners and their facilitators in mind.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I was awarded a full-paid academic scholarship to Louisiana State University-Shreveport for undergraduate work, and I earned various other smaller scholarships while completing my bachelor's degree. While at LSUS, I was inducted into a freshman honor society and later into a language honor society.

My own education history

In 1996, I graduated from Kingston Christian Academy and began attending Louisiana State University-Shreveport. I was a work-study student at LSUS for four years while earning a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a minor in International Studies. I went on to work for Arkansas State University for six years and was awarded a Master of Business Administration there in 2006. In 2013, I received an Advanced Certificate in Life Coaching from Light University Online.
