About the store
I have over 20 years experience as an occupational therapist and have worked in both school and long-term care settings. My husband and I have three children... one in college and two in high school. I love working with children with learning differences, and strive to help them discover what they have to offer to the world and to see their strengths while we work to improve skills. I try my best to make therapy sessions challenging as well as fun and engaging. Problem-solving challenging situations is my expertise. I love to brain storm with others and see multiple angles when facing challenges. I am a newbie to listing items on this website and am learning new ways to improve my products everyday. Teaching style
I prefer to develop positive relationships with my students and understand them at a deep level. We are then able to tackle the barriers that are standing in the way of their learning success and engage challenging tasks in fun and playful ways. With mutual respect, we work as a team to overcome obstacles and find modifications to create better learning environments. I believe all students have special gifts to show the world, and that it is my job to help them to find their true potentials.
My own education history
I have a Bachelors in Psychology from Messiah University and a Masters in Occupational Therapy from Thomas Jefferson University. I have also received certification in the Orton-Gillingham method to help struggling readers from the Dyslexia Training Institute. I have done work with students as an OT and as a reading instructor for those with dyslexia.
