Teaching style

A teaching mentor of mine once asked me to sum up my role as a teacher as a metaphor, and what followed became my rather ridiculous but absolutely genuine mantra: When I am at my best as a teacher, I'm the light in the refrigerator, illuminating the delicious possibilities. I am hopeful that the items in my shop will help you do the same. I am a big believer in project-based and inquiry-based learning and all subjects being as hands-on as possible. Having worked in extremely low-income and high-ELL schools, I know the value of making lessons that are interactive and fun enough to "stick" for students from all walks of life. Teaching is my passion, and I am excited to have the opportunity to share some of the ideas that have worked well for my students.

Additional biographical information

A bit about me: I live in Oregon's Willamette Valley, work in a rural school (teaching six subjects!), and have had a very diverse career working in a variety of university and public school environments. I regularly coordinate with local university staff to fine-tune middle school and high school lessons that I think will really resonate with students and prepare them for life beyond the K-12 experience. I love to hear your feedback and am on a constant path of fine-tuning and improving my content and strategies, as I feel all passionate teachers truly are. Please let me know when my products work well for you and if there's anything I've left out. I love to hear how you tweak or extend different activities, too! Ultimately, I want to make all content as accessible and awesome as possible for you and your kids. Thanks for supporting my content and sharing my passion.
