Experience

Welcome! I’m an early childhood educator with over 20 years of experience teaching 4K through 1st grade. I created Fun-damental Learning to share playful, standards-aligned resources that support young learners as they discover, grow, and thrive. My work is rooted in developmentally appropriate practice, with a strong emphasis on documentation, parent communication, and curriculum alignment. I currently serve as a 4K teacher at a preschool, where I create joyful, purposeful learning experiences that support spiritual, emotional, and academic growth.

Teaching style

My teaching style blends play-based exploration with intentional planning. I follow HighScope principles and align with YoungStar and WEMLS standards to ensure every activity supports key developmental indicators (KDIs). I prioritize clear routines, gentle guidance, and meaningful documentation — always aiming to foster curiosity, independence, and connection in my classroom. With expertise in creating engaging curricula that blend literacy, math, social-emotional learning (SEL), and discovery, I ensure each child is prepared to excel in a dynamic educational environment. Ongoing assessments and progress monitoring guarantee that children are learning at developmentally appropriate levels and continue to grow academically and socially.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Some of my most rewarding moments come from parent feedback — when families feel seen, supported, and encouraged through the progress notes and updates I share. I’ve been recognized within my school community for my clarity in communication, collaborative spirit, and commitment to continuous improvement. Whether it’s a breakthrough in a child’s learning or a heartfelt thank-you from a parent, those moments shine brightest.

My own education history

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood, along with a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I’m also licensed as a Principal and Director of Curriculum & Instruction, equipping me to lead with both classroom insight and strategic vision. My academic background supports a strong foundation in developmentally appropriate practice, instructional design, and educational leadership.

Additional biographical information

Outside the classroom, I’m deeply committed to building supportive learning communities. I specialize in crafting parent-friendly documentation that blends clarity, gratitude, and developmental insight. Thanks for stopping by — let’s discover, play, and learn together!
