My students were having a hard time distinguishing between reasons in their opinion writing and the examples of their reasons. This activity has 2 sets of 8 questions and 8 examples. The two prompts are.

After teaching the text features, I like to assess with these two worksheets. The part they cut are examples of the text features and they have to identify them and paste in place. Lastly, they write a sentence explaining how the text features help in learning.

Poor Santa Bruce has lots of problems in this story. Kids need to solve each of his problems from the story. Pictures of problems...lines for writing solution. Also a page that kids can draw pictures of the solution if they can't write.

Kids will have to pay attention to details like if the problem was a girl or boy, with pronouns in solutions. Critical thinking due to some problems have similar nouns and verbs. This activity will help you assess if they are really understanding what they read.

My students are struggling with determining the lesson on a story. So, I have backed up and started with some basic pictures. Kids need to discuss what is happening in the picture and then figure out what lesson they could learn from the picture.
