About the store
I have been teaching Kindergarten in an urban setting for nine years. My passion is working with struggling learners and children with emotional disabilities. I have presented workshops for teachers on enhancing Science and Math curriculum in preschool and Kindergarten. In 2010, I began the journey toward leadership by enrolling in a principal/administrator licensure program. I believe that the success of all students lies in strong teacher leadership and I encourage my colleagues to explore their roles as leaders in their schools.

Differentiated Seed Exploration Unit for Kindergarten

This is a unit I designed very recently for Kindergarten. Each year in the spring I do a four week unit on seeds: the way they travel, why they are so important to the life cycle of the plant and what types of food come from seeds! This unit incorporates many different learning styles and alsogives options for formative and summative assessments. This unit culminates with a "Seed Snack Buffet".

Weekly Helpers Job Board

Over the years I have searched for the best way to display the Classroom Jobs for the week! Hanging Mail Pockets

This year I used an over the door, shoe organized to store the student's folders each day. Each day when the kids come in the first thing they do is put away their folder. This way I can quickly check who has forgotten to put away their folder before I begin getting notes and notices ready to go home. The labeled pockets also enable the kids to easily put away notes and notices for me once they learn to recognize eachother's names!

Magnetic Letter Storage Solution!

In my classroom I use a large file cabinet to store all my magnetic letters. I simply used masking tape to divide the side of the file cabinet into 26 squares so that each letter has its own designated area. This solution makes it easy for the children to find the letters that they need on their own. When letters fall off by accident, I simply gather them up and toss them in a box labled "Help, I am lost!" When we have choice time I ask for a friend to sort out all the missing letters.
