Students can cut and paste these shapes together to build on their understanding of 3D shapes, 2D shapes, vertices, faces, edges and also their hand crafting skills. My class loved making these and hanging them in the classroom. Printing it on card was much more successful than normal paper. I used this as a guessing activity to encourage students to think about what the shape can be (names of shapes are missing due to this).
Students can show their knowledge of parts of a whole by drawing/colouring and labelling the decimals, percentages and fractions of these tenths and hundredths models. Print this double sided worksheet for students to learn and understand the equivalence between decimals, fractions and percentages. My students enjoyed this and realised how simply it was to find each representation for the models.
Three different levelled code riddle breakers that you can use for maths. These code breakers allow students to solve addition and subtraction fraction problems with different worksheets of same, related and unrelated denominators. My students enjoyed working with partners/mini groups to solve the riddle. The low task is suited for students working at a year 3-4 level, the middle task is suited for students working at a year 5-7 level and the high task is suited for students working beyond year
This pre-test is aimed at Grade 3 - 7 students and includes questions about irregular, regular shapes, shape properties, 2D and 3D shapes, prisms and pyramids, triangles etc. This was great to identify students knowledge and any misconceptions they had about shape.
My students love playing this game for fluency activities. The instructions are included on the sheets to make it easy for them to play. I laminated the sheets so that students could use white board markers to play again and again. It encourages them to use coordinates to sink their partner's ships.
Use this one page, eight questioned, test as either a pre or post test or both to understand what your students know. There are questions involving dice, coins, bags of marbles/shapes, spinners and fractions, decimals and percentages. Students need to also share their knowledge of likelihood of events using chance vocabulary.
