Preview of Pi Day Project

Pi Day Project

Are you looking for a project idea to use for Pi Day in your classroom? Then here it is...let the student's creativity begin! Students are asked to design something that displays Pi. There are also suggestions on how they can earn extra credit as well. Some of the most interesting projects my students turned in were a posterboard with the number 3.14 made out of coins that totaled $3.14, brownies in the shape of the pi symbol, and a wooden box that had a small wooden pi symbol inside.

Experience

Currently, I teach Geometry, Honors Geometry, and Algebra 3 at my high school alma mater in Oklahoma. We are one of the few schools that continue to teach on a block schedule. I have over 25 years in the classroom. Teaching style

I like using structured notes that are easy for students to read and implementing notebooks to keep students organized. I am ALWAYS looking for new ideas that present concepts to my students in a fun and exciting way. My classroom seating is arranged in groups so that students can work together instead of in rows.
