About the store
For the past 9 years, I have taught Human Geography in a public high school classroom. I have taught all levels of the course, from collaborative, to regular, to honors, to Advanced Placement. I love teaching this course because it allows myself and students the ability to explore the world together. We can compare housing styles, discuss traditional foods, explore world cities, create road trips, and so much more. I have also been an 8-year sponsor to our school's Student Y program. This program enhances student participation and understanding in the state and global government systems.

Experience

For the past 9 years, I have taught Human Geography in a public high school classroom. I have taught all levels of the course, from collaborative, to regular, to honors, to Advanced Placement. I love teaching this course because it allows myself and students the ability to explore the world together. We can compare housing styles, discuss traditional foods, explore world cities, create road trips, and so much more. I have also been an 8-year sponsor to our school's Student Y program. This program enhances student participation and understanding in the state and global government systems.

Teaching style

I love to use technology to allow students to create their own learning experience. Student choice and interest is important. Students should lead their own investigations into topics and content areas. I also believe that the most important thing is for students to take what they learn in class and apply it to how they view the world around them.

My own education history

I have a B.A in Social Studies with an emphasis in Secondary Education from Western Kentucky University and a M.A in Education- Teacher Leader Social Studies from the University of the Cumberlands.

Additional biographical information

I love to travel and explore. I enjoy hiking, swimming, tennis, and running. I teach in a rural area and aspire to instill a love of travel and exploration in my students. I was a West Wing kid and the love of government, civics, and service the show emphasized is something I carry into the classroom today. I also have a dad who loved stopping and exploring all things old on family vacations, which I believe is why history was my favorite subject in school.
