Birthday treats seem to be rather out of control these days... want a way to combat that, and build literacy appreciation while celebrating the children in your class? For the last several years, birthday books have been a fantastic celebration of reading and birthdays in my classroom. Used successfully in all elementary grades (PreK - 5th) this is a great way to promote healthy habits and literacy!

This freebie is a great reading project to kick off the school year. Students are asked to pick the best book they ever read, and share it with their peers. This involves completing a brief organizer, creating an illustration, practicing reading their organizer for fluency, and then, ideally, having someone record each student to create a great first video project of the year!
