About the store
I have been creating art since I was able to hold a pencil. From an early age I accompanied my father in his woodshop, and grew up to earn a bachelors in Art Studio and a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction. I've been working with children in education since I was 16 through arts camps. Now at the age of 34, I'm able to combine all my art skills as well as my knowledge of education as an Elementary School teacher and Arts Integration Team Leader.

Students will compare the realistic portrait vessels of the ancient civilization of the Moche people who lived in Peru between 100 and 900 C.E. and African American Face Jugs from the 19th Century. After students observe the techniques and characteristics of the Moche pottery and Face Jugs, students will then build a pinch pot as their vessel and add details such as eyes, nose, mouth, and ears.

About the store

Experience

I have been creating art since I was able to hold a pencil. From an early age I accompanied my father in his woodshop, and grew up to earn a bachelors in Art Studio and a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction. I've been working with children in education since I was 16 through arts camps. Now at the age of 34, I'm able to combine all my art skills as well as my knowledge of education as an Elementary School teacher and Arts Integration Team Leader.

Teaching style

My teaching style promotes problem solving and cross curricular connections. I never want children to copy my work. I'm more interested in what they are learning instead of their final product.

My own education history

I graduated from the University of Maryland at College Park with a Bachelors in Art Studio and a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction in 2007
