10 years teaching Jr. High Gifted Science, Technology, and math. Twice exceptional. 3 years helping with PAL to catch the kids. Substituting 3 years. 1 year 3rd grade. All grade levels with my own two gifted kids k-12. Helping new teachers now. It's all about the kids for me. Love it. :) Am pleased to say even 3 years after I retired from gifted science and tech, the projects and traditions are still in use today:)

It is for cooperative learning and individual. PBL. Real-time observation (computer required). Writing. Building lab, observation and testing lab.

Project Based inquiry. TSW work in a variety of roles in a group to develop a product. Rubric is included on student's page. Instructions on teachers page. 3 days, may take longer if students are extremely engaged and innovative. Each group is different.

Using household items, TSW write a hypothesis and test the hypothesis on the density of 4 items. Involves all of inquiry process, lab, collaborative work. Perfect for Middle School. This can be used year after year. There is also a student's copy to go with this for student's if you want them to have one. "Density Lab student's worksheet. The procedures are written out for them.

This can be used on it's own, or a pre-lesson for the study of Biomes. Notes included, instruction how to deliver, video clip suggestion that supports this lesson, and activity. Will need orange or yellow construction paper for activity. Depending on class times, size, and level of students, this will take approximately 90-120 minutes Class of 24 gifted took approximately 100 minutes. They were a creative group and enjoyed drawing.

This is a rubric to the assignment in tech I created years ago for my students to explore careers, they start with looking in an area, find one, then find specific career they like and research, then present via power point. Teaching style

Project Based Learning, Integrated, STEAM. I am hands on, and believe in knowing the kids to effectively take them to the next level. Collaborative. I guess if you want old terms of Pedagogy I favor Vygotsky.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Future Cities Education Excellence Award, Golden Bell Award, KNIX teacher of the week award. Fulton Homes Influential Glendale award. Certificates from Honeywell for Bridge building, Best Buy, Future Cities, and lots of volunteering.

My own education history

Pre- teaching, Programming, and Pre-med, lots of science. Teaching degree with a specialty in science, mostly bio, A/P, chemistry, and microbiology. Highly qualified gifted and science.
