About the store
I am a dedicated Structured Literacy Specialist, and Orton Gillingham trainer with a passion for supporting all learners. My teaching career began as a primary classroom teacher, after which I pursued a Master's degree in Applied Linguistics and obtained certification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) to enhance my ability to support diverse student populations. Transitioning from the classroom to small group instruction for English Language Learners, I recognized the need for additional skills to address the varied learning needs of my students. Consequently, I acquired training in the Orton Gillingham approach to better support students with dyslexia, other language-based learning differences, and level 1 math skills.

Experience

I am a dedicated Structured Literacy Specialist, and Orton Gillingham trainer with a passion for supporting all learners. My teaching career began as a primary classroom teacher, after which I pursued a Master's degree in Applied Linguistics and obtained certification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) to enhance my ability to support diverse student populations. Teaching style

My education in TESOL and Orton-Gillingham highlights my belief in the importance of building on students’ prior knowledge and presenting explicit, sequential, and cumulative scaffolds for continuous learning of foundational reading, spelling and writing skills. I am a firm believer in following the motto of I Do, We do, and You Do to provide the greatest opportunity for student success. I love using interactive games and activities to reinforce new phonics concepts, spelling rules and generalizations, and math skills as I think students learn best when all learning modalities (visual, auditory, tactile and kinesthetic) are utilized.
