I have been teaching since 2010 in Illinois. My whole career has been in the middle-school setting, but my undergrad degree is in elementary education. I have my Master's degree in literacy.
This goes along well with CMP "Accentuate the Negative" or any other integers unit with math students.
Topics include adding/subtracting, multiplying/dividing, vocabulary, distributive property, and order of operations
This activity is great for students to work on while the teacher pulls small groups for reteaching! Students work on these 21 one-step equations and can scan the QR code to check their answers in real time. These include 1-step equations with rational numbers, integers, fractions, and decimals! Great for a review activity before a quiz!
This activity allows teachers to create 12 separate stations. Document comes with a recording sheet for students.
Students will work with a partner and be at each "station" for about 2 minutes before the teacher asks them to rotate. After going through all 12 stations, go over the answers as a class.
Here is a good solo or partner activity for students to practice distributive property. This activity includes 15 different pairs (30 "arrows" total) for students to match up with another. One is the expression as a product, the other as a sum or difference.
Includes negatives & variables with coefficients
This is a review activity for students to practice determining if the side lengths form a right triangle. There are 8 problems, a recording sheet, and answer key. Students just need a pencil, calculator, and QR scanner (which can be downloaded from the Webstore on a Chromebook or in the app store on a cell phone).
Great practice for rounding!! About 80 different QR codes to practice. Includes rounding to the nearest ten, hundred, tenths, and hundredths.
In the download I have included the answer, QR code, and "question" for the student to have to figure out before checking their answer with the QR code. When I gave this to students I cut off the answer. (Or, you can simply fold the paper if you trust your students will no look at the answer!)
Could be used at a center or just for additional pract
This is a review activity to practice the Pythagorean Theorem in order to find missing legs (not hypotenuse) of right triangles. Each problem has its own QR Code to be scanned for instant access to the answer. There is also a recording sheet and answer key provided. This is a great review for kids to see how well they are doing with Pythagorean Theorem.
I created these "task cards" to use as a scavenger hunt to help my kids get up and move while reviewing for a 2-step equation quiz.
Recording sheet & answer key included at the bottom!
I used this document to get students familiar with using fractions and understanding how fractions are seen in real-world situations.
This document asks students to use their classmates to answer different fractions questions such as, "The number of classmates wearing gym shoes"
They can work with group members, and they also have an opportunity to create their own questions.
Basic geometric vocabulary students should be familiar with
