About the store
I currently teach in the school system that I grew up in. Teaching is a second career for me, I started teaching in the 2007-2008 school year in 7th grade science. After the first quarter of the 2008-2009 school year, I moved to 7th grade math. I continued in that position until the 2017-2018 school year when I moved up to 8th grade at the same school. I helped coach middle school girl's basketball for 5 years and did several years of little league boys and girls. I was the Junior Beta Club sponsor for 5 years.

Experience

I currently teach in the school system that I grew up in. Teaching is a second career for me, I started teaching in the 2007-2008 school year in 7th grade science. After the first quarter of the 2008-2009 school year, I moved to 7th grade math. I continued in that position until the 2017-2018 school year when I moved up to 8th grade at the same school. I helped coach middle school girl's basketball for 5 years and did several years of little league boys and girls. I was the Junior Beta Club sponsor for 5 years.

Teaching style

I am a very structured person and that tends to carry over to my classroom. I do like to switch things up with different methods, activities, games, collaboration, etc, to keep class fresh and try to maintain student interest. We are a 1:1 school with iPads so we use technology frequently as well. I like to try and build relationships with students right from the start to help make for a smoother year for all.

Awards & shining teacher moments

My shining moments come when I have a student come back to me after moving to high school to tell me how much they really learned from me and how much easier my class made their freshman math class for them.

My own education history

I received a B.S. degree from the University of Tennessee Chattanooga, majoring in Finance and minoring in Economics. I received a Master of Arts in Teaching in 2007 from Lee University in Cleveland, TN.

Additional biographical information

Teaching during the 2019-2020 and the 2020-2021 school years certainly made me stronger than I ever thought possible, as a person and a teacher.
