Teaching style
I build resources for the 'unplugged' classroom. My teaching style centers on high-engagement, paper-based assignments that prioritize camaraderie and critical thinking over screen time. I focus on creating collaborative, multi-level resources that serve a diverse range of learners simultaneously. My specialty is the 'Creative Workbook'—a curated blend of rigorous analysis and visual storytelling designed to give students a sense of ownership and pride in their physical work.
My own education history
In 2013, I earned my Bachelor's degree in Human Sciences in Hotel and Restaurant Administration. In 2018, I completed my Masters of Business Administration (with honors). Currently, I am working toward a Master's in Educational Leadership with plans to (eventually) pursue a Ph.D.
Additional biographical information
I’m Gabi Berry, a public high school ELA teacher who believes ninth grade is the best place to be. My background is a mix of MBA-level organization and years of hands-on experience mentoring teens in the fast-paced world of kitchen management. I left a career in higher education to return to what I love most: helping students bridge the gap between 'getting it' and 'mastering it' through creative, paper-based resources. Beyond the classroom, I’m a passionate crochet enthusiast and a believer in the power of a job well done!
