This packet explores two different ways to convert metric measurements. Featured in this document is a explanation of each process. Word problems follow that challenge the students to apply each method. The concepts in this packet are aligned with the Common Core Standards for fifth grade.
This workbook is aligned with lessons 1 - 10 of the third module of the fifth grade Common Core. These challenging problems were design for students to apply what they have learned in each lesson. Most problems are multi-step and require students to use visual representations in their answers. This can be used as a "When You Are Done..." packet or as ideas for "Problems of the Day".
This document lists the criteria for different levels of questioning. Students in my class generate questions based on what they have read or learned using this criteria as a guide. With some practice, students are able to ask higher level questions that lead to more in depth discussions. Often I have students generate questions as a "ticket out of class". I will use these questions to review and to continue discussion on a topic during the next class.
