Hello! My name is Janel, and I have approximately 14 years in Education. I have experience teaching 1st, 2nd, 3rd and currently, I teach 5th grade. Also, I've worked with students in general ed. and self-contained classes, who have Autism.
A lot of the time, it's difficult to find exactly what I need for science and social studies, so I make a lot of what I use in my classroom. I make ALL of my class assessments (all core subjects). My favorite staples in my day-to-day are interactive note booking, an economics based class management system, and student organization. I love novel studies and class projects!

Classroom Management Class Coupons: Rewards Students Love!
Class coupons are ALWAYS a big hit each year for my students! My students LOVE class coupons! In my class, I have a class economy and reward with “Score Bucks” (listed in my TPT shop). They can purchase class coupons for $50 Score Bucks on our “buy out” days. You can also use coupons alone as a reward. One suggestion is if they have a great week, let them choose one coupon on Friday. Use any of the premade ones or create your own with the last slide. I hope you enjoy this resource! -------------

Teaching style
I practice whole body learning using creative thinking, relevant life connections, and positive reinforcement. My philosophy is that students learn best when they're able to make real-world connections with their teacher, and the content they're being taught. If they don't have experiences to pull from, it's my job to be the bridge to help the connection.
My own education history
I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a focus and certificate in K-12 Reading, from East Carolina University.
Additional biographical information
I have four children (3 boys and 1 girl), and they range in age from college, high school, elementary school, and daycare. I am a self taught (digital) graphic artist; some of the graphics in my store, I drew (if not, I give credit where due). I actively sold on Etsy from 2008-2021 (Belly Tickles). I created photo cards, stationery, address labels, party favors, name banners, etc., mostly using graphics I drew.
I enjoy time with family and my Ragdoll cat, watching crime shows/movies, coaching youth soccer, creating resources, sewing, creating graphic art, crafting, and DIY projects. One of my favorite projects was when I built a 6'10" nutcracker using my own power tools, and a variety of materials. I grew up on the water, so I love the beach! I also love to sing! :)
