Experience

I'm currently teaching 7th Grade ELA & Drama at a small, rural Middle School in Northern California. My teaching career began in 2000 and have since then, I have served in many capacities including adult education, ELD, Theatre Arts and Music. I love words, their power, their history and their connections.

Teaching style

The materials I create have "the goal" in mind. What are we learning? How will we know when we've learned it? What will we be required to produce or perform? My materials are designed to get students to that destination in a way that is efficient, clear and fun.

My own education history

I have a B.A. in English with minors in Spanish and Music from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN. My M.A. in Secondary Education was earned at San Fransicso State University. I have taught in Minneapolis, MN, San Francisco, CA and Middletown, CA. I have an extensive background in theatre from acting to costuming and most recently directing. I'm currently faced with my biggest theatrical challenge: how to operate the lights!

Additional biographical information

I live in Northen California with my poet husband, pianist teenage daughter, and 8-year-old son who sings while assembling Legos. We enjoy reading, writing, learning, playing and getting outside.
