About the store
I'd much rather plan! I know assessment is important but I would much rather be working on my lesson plans, projects, and activities. Rubrics certainly save me! I hope that passion shows in the products I offer. I have been teaching for 18 years. I began this journey later on in my life and feel I have brought a great deal of experience from the different jobs I have performed and the many different places I have lived! I taught grade 7 - 9 for many of those years (all core) so you'll see some Math and Social Studies pop up in my store. I currently teach English, Drama, and Film Studies at the High School level and am loving it!

World Report Card - Research & Critical Thinking Project (Social Studies)

The World Report Card is a wonderful way to engage our social studies, history, and/or civics students in research and critical thinking. The students will enjoy having the opportunity to award a grade to our planet and come up with ways to enhance our quality of life. This critical thinking project allows students the opportunity to research, analyze, and reconcile past and current events to determine how we are doing as a planet in key economic, political, and social areas. Figurative Language Lesson, Activity, & Project ("I have a dream..." speech)

The speech Martin Luther King Jr. offered the world on August 28th, 1963 was a pivotal point in history for the civil rights movement. It is also a wonderfully "written" speech full of rich imagery and unmatched rhetoric. Sharing his words with students is a wonderful opportunity to discuss and celebrate this moment as well as the legacy Dr. King provides for generations to come. This activity that culminates into a creative representation project will engage students in exploring the languag

Editable Independent Novel Study Template

This handy, editable document allows students to work independently with a novel of their choice (most likely vetted by you). It covers the basic elements of story, figurative language/literary device exploration, and making connections. Great for students to remain accountable and always learning within their silent reading material. Also fantastic for distance learning!

Teaching style

I really like project based learning and student-centred instruction. The kids need to find and practice independence in their learning. You'll see active novel studies, representation projects, and many opportunities for full class and small group discussion in my classroom. We need to model, offer examples, as well as offer interesting lessons and creative projects to get the best from our students.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I won the Spelling Bee in grade 3...I remind my High Schoolers of that all the time ;)

My own education history

Bachelor of Arts - History, Bachelor of Education - Secondary English, Certificate in Film Production
