This is a recording sheet I use when I test my students number recognition. I have the students write their name and the date on recording sheet. I place the list of numbers in front of students and they state what the number is and I record what they. MN State Standards say students should be able to recognize numbers 0-32 by the end of kindergarten. I have updated the number recognition page to include more items. Directions for Skip Counting: Have students skip count by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s. Circle the numbers the students missed while skip counting. If students correctly skip counted, place a checkmark next to the “I Can” statement. Directions for Counting Backwards: Have students count backwards starting from 10, 20, 50 or 100. Directions: 1. Encourage students to write as many numbers as they can but let them know it is okay if they don’t fill in every box. The goal is to do their best. 2. How to Use: This paper can be placed in a student’s portfolio or used in your records. The student pages are to be set in front of the student. Have the student point at each letter as they tell you the letter or the sound. You may point at the letter as well. Inform the student that they can say skip/I don’t know. This is an assessment that you can use to easily keep track of your students ability to count to 100. It gives you a spot to write their name, the date, number they counted to, numbers skipped, if they achieved this goal and any extra comments you might have.

This product is to be used by students to write their numbers to 100. I found that students notice patterns while they are writing their numbers on a 10X10 column paper. So I was seeing that students could figure out these patterns and memorize them, rather than show me that they could write to 100. This sheet has 11 columns. There are still patterns on this sheet. However they aren't as noticeable. I was able to see if the students could write to 100 without using the patterns. This proved to
