This activity allows for students to draw the plans for their dream house. They are asked to use a variety of shapes and to be creative. They then are asked to find the area and perimeter of their floor plan. This can be used as a math center activity, for gifted and talented, small group or your whole class.

Need something different to have students show their understanding of math properties? This is a great way to do so. Assign students a property, have them complete the planning sheet and choose from the project options. Students are allowed to be creative and learn the properties in a more authentic way. Project options include using an app on the iPad, advertisement, a rap, commercial or skit. A peer review sheet is included so students can evaluate others presentations.
