I've been teaching for ten years in the Southern California Public Schools System, and it's been an incredible experience. Over the years, I've encountered a wide range of teaching situations and challenges, from working with students who speak English as a second language to navigating budget constraints and other resource challenges. Despite these challenges, I've worked hard to develop effective lesson plans that engage my students and help them achieve their learning objectives. I've used a variety of teaching strategies, such as lectures, group work, hands-on activities, and multimedia presentations, to help my students learn in ways that are meaningful and memorable. In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I've also been involved in a range of administrative tasks, such as grading assignments and exams, communicating with parents and administrators, and participating in professional development opportunities to improve my teaching skills. As a teacher in Southern California, I've encountered unique challenges related to the region's diverse population and the socioeconomic and cultural factors that affect my students' lives. However, I've worked hard to provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all my students, regardless of their background or circumstances. Overall, my ten years of teaching experience in the Southern California Public Schools System has provided me with a deep understanding of the education system and the needs of my students. My teaching style is multi-dimensional and ranges from videos, lectures, debates, the Socratic method, DBQs, project-based learning, and essay writing. I believe in using a variety of techniques to engage my students and ensure that they have the opportunity to learn in ways that work best for them. Incorporating videos into my lessons can be helpful in providing visual aids and making complex topics more accessible and engaging for my students. When it comes to lectures, I find them to be an effective way to convey important information and set the stage for deeper discussions and learning activities. I'm also a fan of debates and the Socratic method, as these approaches can encourage critical thinking and help students develop strong argumentation skills. Using document-based questions (DBQs) is another technique I use to help my students analyze historical texts and primary sources. Project-based learning is a great way to help students apply what they've learned to real-world scenarios, and essay writing is a crucial skill that can help students improve their writing, analytical, and communication skills. By incorporating these various techniques into my teaching, I aim to create a dynamic and engaging classroom environment that supports the diverse needs and learning styles of my students. I'm dedicated to helping my students succeed and am committed to creating a meaningful and effective learning experience for them.

My educational journey has taken me through a variety of experiences, from public schools in Oregon to serving in the United States Army, and finally pursuing higher education at Victor Valley College, Chapman University, and ultimately earning a Master's degree in Secondary Education. My primary education took place in public schools in Oregon, where I developed a strong foundation in core subjects such as math, science, and English. After completing high school, I enlisted in the United States Army, where I served my country and gained valuable skills and experiences that would later serve me well in my educational pursuits. After my time in the Army, I enrolled in Victor Valley College, where I earned an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Studies. This degree gave me a well-rounded education and helped me develop critical thinking and analytical skills that would prove invaluable in my future studies. I then transferred to Chapman University, where I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science. This degree allowed me to deepen my understanding of the social sciences and gain a greater appreciation for the complexities of human behavior and society. Finally, I pursued a Master's degree in Secondary Education, which enabled me to hone my teaching skills and develop a deeper understanding of effective teaching practices. With this degree, I was able to become a highly qualified teacher and make a positive impact on the lives of my students. Overall, my educational journey has been both challenging and rewarding. Each step along the way has helped me develop new skills and knowledge, and I'm grateful for the opportunities I've had to learn and grow. Today, I'm proud to use my education and experience to make a positive impact on the lives of my students and help them achieve their full potential.
