This is a collection of four word problems that force students to either use the area model or standard algorithm to solve multi-digit multiplication problems. There are numbers and statements in the problems that are meant to make the students read and re-read the word problems to pick out the pertinent information.

This is a collection of three word problems which force students to use either the area model or standard algorithm to solve for one digit times multi-digit multiplication. This was used for independent practice, but could be a good exit ticket with time allotted.
