About the store
In 2000, I began my career in education. Over the years, I have taught kindergarten, first, and second grade. I have also had the opportunity to be an ESOL (English Speakers of other Langages) teacher, a special needs teacher, and an interventionist for FCRR (Florida Center of Reading Research). I have experience in teaching in high poverty schools (both Arizona and Florida) as well as at an "A" school with tremendous parent involvement. My coworkers selected me to represent my former school as teacher of the year and again at my current school. Each time was an absolute honor! My passion lies in teaching reading and I am thankful that I had the opportunity to pursue and receive my M.Ed in Reading. Currently I am teaching first grade and love it!

Addition and Subtraction (Timed Practice) Mad Minute
I created mad minute practice sheets to help students add and subtract 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10!
I've included directions on how to administer the mad minute but you can use these sheets however you like.
Each sheet is only half a page. For example +1s include two pages (the first page has the student copy AND the answer key for your plan book, the second page has two student copies to use on the copy machine).

Yearbook (Memory Book)
Every year I do a yearbook with my class. I usually start it a couple of weeks before school is out. You can choose to use all the pages or pick the ones you like best to include in the yearbook. In the past, my yearbook was only five pages.
I also add photographs by inserting blank copy pages where I want the photos to go. The kids glue them in. In addition I add work that I saved from the beginning, middle, and end of the year. This is entirely optional.

Summer Vacation Making Words
This is a fun activity where the kids try to make as many words as they can using the letters from Summer Vacation. You can choose to display this sheet on the board with the document camera and the kids record their answers on notebook paper or you can copy this sheet for each child.
There are variations on how you can assign it. It can be a partner activity, a timed activity, or fill the entire sheet in activity. I prefer to do a timed activity where the kids see how many words they can

Poem for Someone Special (Great for Mother's Day)
This is a poem that I use to make our Mother's Day project but it would work well for Father's Day or even Grandparent's Day.
In addition to the poem you can provide a small collection of items that symbolize those sentiments or you can have the children draw them.
In the preview file, I've included a sample.
I wrote this poem years ago. In the past I had the children sew felt hands together and we stuffed it with the aforementioned objects.

Star Reading Log
This is reading log form can be used in a variety of ways.
I've enclosed a few variations of the same reading log so that you can choose the version that works best in your classroom.
!. You can use this form in class to hold your children accountable for reading during independent reading or center time. At the end of readers' workshop or independent reading, collect the reading logs and briefly question the children about the book/books listed. I usually draw the names of 2-3 students. (

My Spelling Dictionary Dolch High Frequency Words
My spelling dictionary includes the Dolch High Frequency Words. There are blank spaces to add in additional words. It is a useful tool for editing writing. It also helps the kids understand ABC order. There are 23 pages in this document.

100th Day counting by 3s chart
This is a chart with the numbers 1-100. The children need to fill in the missing numbers. It helps with skip counting by threes. If you do not like the title you could cut out the 100 chart, laminate it and place it in a math center with a dry erase or vis-a-vis marker.

Letter and Number Cards (ABCs and Numbers 1-120)
I've created letter/number cards that can be laminated and used for bulletin boards, teaching whole group and small group lessons, games or even centers.
You can use the letter cards to create a word wall or for student practice. They are great for practicing alphabetizing and spelling words at centers. The possibilities are endless!
You can use the number cards to create a number line in the room, teaching place value, adding and subtracting practice, and math centers.

Station Documentation (Centers)
I have included several station documentation sheets. When a child goes to centers/stations, I have him or her color in the box for that center/station to help keep track or where he/she has been during the week.
There are a couple of sheets that work for Daily 5.
I have included an explanation of each center.
There are larger cards that you can print out to use in a pocket chart. If you would rather have the children put their name in the chart beside the station/center.

Calendar Pack (Great for citizenship, weather, homework, etc.)
Here is a set of blank calendars. They have multiple uses!
They can be used for citizenship documentation where each child colors a square in corresponding to his or her behavior (e.g. green, yellow, or red).
They can be used to track weather, teach calendar skills, document, how the students are feeling that day.
You can even create homework calendars for the family to check off each night.
The possibilities are endless!

Museum Exhibit Report (Vocabulary Building Activity)
On my blog I posted about this fun way for kids to learn new vocabulary. Have them make a classroom museum. Basically each child is given a word and they have to make a model of that word using clay (or play-doh). They also make a sign for their exhibit with the word and an explanation of what the word means. Once everyone completes their exhibit the class goes on a museum tour and the children read and discuss the clay models as they walk around the room.

Teaching style
I love working with small groups differentiating instruction. I like incorporating new ideas. If I had my way, I would go back to thematic teaching where all subject areas are integrated.

My own education history
I love school! I was destined to become a teacher. As soon as I graduated from college as a French major, I started teaching Kindergarten with an "emergency" credential. Once I started teaching, I earned 39 units in education (alternative teaching route) to get my elementary teaching certificate and ESL endorsement in Arizona. Several years later, I moved to FL I completed about 39 more units to get my Master's degree in Reading (4.0 GPA).
