Students must find all the pieces of the puzzles to complete the fact family. Puzzles can be printed in various sizes depending on your need. Large puzzles for whole group demonstration or 2-4 to a page for individual or small group work. Puzzles have a white background to save the precious colored ink.

These phonics card games align with the phonics skills from Unit 1 in the Grade 2 Wonders Reading program. Each game is labeled for the unit and week it is to be used. Each week the pictures are different to help in sorting and organizing the cards. I suggest that they be printed on card stock and laminated. This product aligns with each week of Unit 1 Wonders Reading for Grade 2. Each week there is a changing words activity that can be done independently, as a small group, or a large group where students need to change the word following each of the directions given. This is an excellent possibility for "Work on Words" during Daily 5 rotations. This activity can be done with letter tiles, magnetic letters, white board, or the magnetic letter app on an iPad.

This is a fun way to practice the basic addition and subtraction facts using 8. The students won't even realize that they are working on their basic facts. The student with the START card begins by reading what is on the first card. Students then must listen to see where they card comes into the game. The game continued until the STOP card is reached.

For each card, students need to determine which of the word or words from the sentence is a noun. Students then circle the letters on their answer sheet to note which words are nouns. Each puzzle is a different combination of numbers or number bonds that equals the larger number on the large piece of the puzzle.
