To supplement a developmental psychology unit, use this spin on a "dating game show" to reinforce the concepts of Jean Piaget's Cognitive stages (Sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational, and formal operational)! Use this engaging game as an activity after you talk about dreams. You will have students work in pairs or small groups. You will simply show them a picture, and they will then discuss it with a partner. They will talk about what they think it would symbolize if they saw it in one of their dreams. You can turn it into a class discussion. Then, you will show them the latent meaning of that symbol on the following slide. My classes typically do a dream webquest the day following this activity.

After learning about Freud's defense mechanisms, students can then take matters into their own hands and create "dating profiles" for a character that tends to use a certain defense mechanism! Using the provided QR codes, students will search common dream interpretation websites and look for explanations of things they may see in their own dreams. They will choose a symbol, look on the website for the interpretation, and connect it to one of the dream theories.
