This ad-lib style template can be used to aid students learning to write a claim/data/warrant essay to defend a theme of a novel. It has sentence starters, paragraph topics, and directions to guide students through their writing. The paragraph starters prompt students to write about how the novel's point of view, character development, and conflict support the theme. There are also prompts to help students develop an effective introduction and conclusion.
