This ad-lib style template can be used to aid students learning to write a claim/data/warrant essay to defend a theme of a novel. It has sentence starters, paragraph topics, and directions to guide students through their writing. The paragraph starters prompt students to write about how the novel's point of view, character development, and conflict support the theme. There are also prompts to help students develop an effective introduction and conclusion.

This is a Smart Notebook file that can be used to easily review the 5 elements of fiction: plot, character, conflict theme and setting on a Smart Board. Each identification question has an answer hidden in the box below. Slide the question to the side to review the answer.This works well for a quick student led review game or formative assessment.
