Exponents Notes

Created by
Haney Science
These notes coincide with the Exponents PowerPoint that is also available. It introduces the ideas behind exponents and allows students to use comparison to solidify the differences between when exponents are added or multiplied. Students also cover dividing variables with exponents and are given plenty of practice to test their understanding.

About the store

Experience

After spending a decade in the classroom as a science teachers and instructional specialist, I am now the High School Science Facilitator for Mesquite Independent School District in Mesquite, Texas. In this role, I develop science curriculum and instruction for high school teachers from all 5 high schools in the district.

Teaching style

I strongly believe in a hands-on approach to teaching science. Each day I try to incorporate a lab or activity that allows students to investigate and explore the day's topic. I try to teach major concepts using a Learning Cycle/5E approach, and I am constantly trying to improve and implement effective teaching practices.

My own education history

In 2002 I graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station, TX where I double majored in biochemistry and genetics. After a year working with troubled youth in Colorado I began my teaching career. In 2012 I earned my Masters degree in science education from the University of Texas at Arlington.
