My students LOVE these I Spy games and it really forces them to accurately read each word! I Spy - Soft C, Soft G

Phonics knowledge needed: C followed by i, e, and y usually spells the /s/ sound. G followed by i, e, and y can spell the /j/ sound. -ce at the end of a word spells the /s/ sound. -ge at the end of a word spells the /j/ sound. Sometimes 'E' has lots of jobs! Sometimes 'E' works with the vowel to make the vowel sound long (magic e) AND it works with the c or g to make it say the soft sound (/s/ or /j/). Examples: cage, face, page, ice Explicitly teach ELL students the meaning of all these words!

Printable Date Display Cards / Calendar/ Days of the Week

I got so sick of having to write the date every day! I laminated these cards and keep them in little boxes. It is a kid's end-of-the-day job to change the date for the next day of school. I also keep a regular calendar nearby so they can check what the date will be on the next day of school (e.g. skip two days for the weekend or breaks). --Date cards include all dates during the school year in the following format: [day of the week], [month] [date], [year] e.g., "Wednesday, August 17, 2023" --BE
