About the store

Experience

I have worked with individuals with autism, high-needs, and challenging behaviors for over 20 years. I managed residential facilities, worked in an inpatient psychiatry unit, volunteered in prisons, nursing homes, and teaching abroad placements. I finally found myself teaching high school high-needs students with ASD and am absolutely in love with what I get to do.

Teaching style

I really like using activities similar to what my students' same-aged peers may be using. No subject is taboo - if other kids their age are talking about it or doing it at school, then we will too. Social-Emotional support is also huge in our program, and we spend a lot of time making sure students are ready to learn and feel welcomed and loved as they are.
