Optional extension would be for students to write a one paragraph reflection on the back about what the quote means to them and why it resonates. Great as a classroom display as well!
This is a pdf that is meant to be used as a slideshow. In my class, we stop every two stanzas when reading "The Raven," and jot down a summary of what happened in those two stanzas. We use this as both a comprehension guide and an annotation guide. Happy spooky reading!

This is a simple mini-lesson about how to write a strong paragraph. It is great for a review or reinforcement. I am planning to use this in the first weeks of school with my 7th and 8th graders before they do any writing. There is a mentor paragraph included that is used to demonstrate elements of a strong paragraph on each slide.
I use this produce for my students when we conduct formal graded discussions on a text. It helps them to take responsibility for their participation in the discussion and reflect on what grade they think they deserve.

The Oops! Pass system has saved my teaching life! How I use this project: **1 Oops! pass = 1 extra day to complete homework without penalty. I give each student three passes per term, but do what works for your classroom. **If a student looses their pass, they do not get a new one (promotes personal responsibility and organization) **If a student does not use one or more of the Oops! Passes by the end of the grading period, I let them exchange their passes for +5 on any homework or classwork ass

Three Word Book Reviews are a great way to show off the awesome your my students have been doing and share what teachers have been reading as well. Students will like being able to share with their peers their favorite reads without having to write a whole review. Short, sweet, and promotes reading (for fun!)
