About the store

Experience

I have taught music in public schools for 12 years. During that time I have taught Elementary General Music for 9 years, Elementary Choir for 8 years, Sixth Grade Beginning Band for 7 years, Junior High Choir for 4 years, Junior High Bands for 3 years. I also have taught private Oboe, Flute, and Piano lessons to students of all ages.

Teaching style

I believe that Elementary General Music classes should be fun, flexible, student centered, and meaningful organized chaos. I am a planer, but also improvise a lot based on feedback I get from the students I'm teaching at that moment.

My own education history

I have an Bachelors in Elementary Education K-8 and endorsements in English K-9 and music K-12.

Additional biographical information

I started taking Piano lessons when I was in fourth grade. I started 6th grade band on the Flute. I added Oboe in 8th grade. I took some Violin lessons and played around with the Guitar off and one. I added Clarinet, Tenor Sax, and Trombone in high school. I also play some Penny Whistle, Irish Flute, Recorder, Ukulele, Auto Harp, Dulcimer, and Mandolin. I love playing lots of different instruments and listening to many different genres of music.
