About the store
I am a fifth year science teacher with experience in biology, chemistry, physics, and marine biology. This year, I am teaching Chemistry in the Earth System and Marine Science with CTE credit. Prior to coming to the PNW, I taught in Palo Alto, CA and Naperville, IL. Currently, I am involved in my school district Science Advisory putting together resources, learning objectives, and unit outlines to be utilized across the district. Additionally, I work at my district and school site to create social emotional learning resources and trainings for my school.

Intermolecular Forces Guided Inquiry Notes & Practice

This is an introductory inquiry activity in which students will take self guided notes by reading prompts, analyzing models, and answering scaffolded questions. The activity covers the importance of IMFs, types of IMFs, and practice identifying types of intermolecular forces and ranking the strength between them. Students can use this as a reference guide for future practice. No direct teaching in necessary. This product can easily be used as a printed off activity, or as a TpT Easel Digital Act

Specific Heat Mini-Bundle - Inquiry and CERs

This mini-bundle focuses on specific heat capacity both conceptually and mathematically. With guided notes and practice, students are introduced to the concepts and walked through practice problems prior to completing their own practice problems to solve for each variable of the specific heat capacity equation. Additionally, students will be looking at the impact of the high specific heat capacity of water on climate which can be used as a grounding phenomena in this learning segment. The lear

Specific Heat Self-Guided Inquiry Notes and Practice Problems

These are guided inquiry notes that students can complete without direct instruction to learn about the concepts of specific heat capacity and how to solve for the different variables in specific heat problems. Students will compare temperature and heat to understand how energy moves in and out of systems. The practice problems include problems for each variable in the specific heat equation, as well as isolating final temperature.  This activity can be used as a TpT Virtual Activity or printed

Calorimetry Guided Notes - Student Inquiry and Practice

The intention behind these Calorimetry Guided Notes is to introduce students to transfer of heat between two substances. Students will answer scaffolded questions to guide their understanding and complete a guided practice problem prior to completing two of their own practice questions. This student driven worksheet allows teachers to facilitate learning indirectly while students work in small groups or individually. This lesson builds off of specific heat lessons and can prepare students for a

Particle Diagram Guided Notes

Production of a model is a key component of NGSS and with the use of Particle Diagrams there are a variety of ways to express different processes and concepts. With this guided inquiry, students will complete guided notes that walk them through different examples on how to express information such as change in volume, temperature, pressure, density, and more. Students can keep these notes as a reference to use when they need to produce a visualization of a process.  This activity can be used as

Teaching style

My teaching style focuses on connecting students to the world around them with inquiry based learning. Straying away from direct instruction, I hope to help guide students in exploration to come to their own understanding of the materials.

My own education history

I have a BS of Chemistry Education with an endorsement in Biology and Physics and a MA in Earth Science Education.

Additional biographical information

My Chemistry and Biology sources incorporate Earth Science topics and/or Relateable Phenomena as a way to connect students to the world around them. I suggest looking at my Year Long Standards Outline for both my Chemistry and Biology courses to see how I mix and match Earth Science NGSS with my two core classes.
