The quiz was designed to be given after covering the basic building blocks of a simple Java class.  The quiz could be used with computers or pen and paper depending on your preference. I teach Objects first so this is one of the first assessments I use with pen and paper similar to FRQ style for experience with College assessments like APCSA. It covers basic concepts like Class declarations, Instance variables, Constructor Declarations, Method Declarations, etc...

This is a week 1 introductory lesson targeted at a beginner Computer Science course like TACS1 or Computer Science Principles. Students will learn the basic concepts of procedural abstraction while reviewing school rules. It forces them to think critically and creatively without having to know anything about CS.

This collection of questions focuses on the brainstorming and revision/edit stages of writing. I like to have these handy for any aides that are with me in my classroom so we there is a bit more consistency in our conferences. I've also included a conference note taking sheet!

Using the language from the STAAR Writing Rubric, this easy to use flip-chart guides students as they reflect on their writing. The flip chart includes sentence stems to help students self assess. This has allowed my students to work at their pace while waiting for me to meet them for their writing conference.
